INDUCTION OF MANPOWER IN NWKRTC

The Corporation has been constantly endeavoring to translate its vision of providing safe, convenient and reliable transport facility to the public in to reality. In the process to induct the best men into the Organisation the NWKRTC has adopted the prevailing KSRTC Cadre and Recruitment Regulations-1982.

With regard to the Officers (Class-II) and Supervisory Staff the selections are made from KSRTC through CAT, since the Cadre and Management Authority of these category of posts is KSRTC. There is no interview for these category of posts. The selections are based on the merit of marks secured in the CAT and the minimum educational qualification prescribed for the post.


Recruitment to the class-III non supervisory staff and class-IV post like Conductors, Jr. Asst-cum-Typists, Security Guards etc., are made in NWKRTC. The selections for these posts are purely on merit, ie., on the basis of marks secured in the qualifying examination of the minimum educational qualification prescribed for the post.

Further, as already mentioned above, it is the primary concern of the Corporation to ensure the safety of the passengers and in this direction the post of driver plays a pivotal role in the Corporation. Hence, it requires the best persons who are skillful with safe driving habits for the said post. Therefore, the criteria adopted for selections to the post of driver and driver-cum-conductors are their performance in the Driving Test besides fulfilling the prescribed physical standards. The driving test includes two independent tests conducted for 25 marks each and the candidates who secure less than 25 marks out of the total of 50 marks in the said trade-test are not eligible for selection. The Corporation is conducting Automated Driving Trade Test by adopting the Electronic Media to conduct the Trade Test which ensures most transparent and fool-proof method of assessing the Driving ability of candidates without giving scope for any human error / interference or complaints. It is proud to say that the corporation is the first and also has a pride place in the country by adopting such a unique method for selection to the posts of Driver and Driver-cum-conductor.

Further, in order to ensure that the candidates have the physical ability to perform duties entrusted to them, physical standards are also prescribed for various posts with the exception of only a few posts like clerical cadre etc. The candidates for the posts of Driver / Driver-cum-Conductors /Conductor/ Security Guard/ Artisan / Technical Assistant /Assistant Traffic Inspectors should have a minimum of 163 cms height and 55 Kg. weight, where as for female candidates the height and the weight is 153 cms and 50 Kg. respectively, whereas for the post of Conductor the Height is the criteria. In case of Security Guard in addition to fulfilling the above physical standards they should also fulfill the physical efficiency tests as prescribed under the Regulations. In addition to the merit as explained above, the reservation to the candidates belonging to various categories are also extended as per the Government Orders issued from time to time.

With regard to the selections for the different posts in Mechanical category like Artisan, Technical Assistant and Assistant Traffic Inspectors, the selection is based on the percentage of total marks secured in the qualifying examination prescribed ie., Diploma (Mechanical /Automobile /Welding & Sheet metal Technology Engineering/Electrical / Electrical & Electronics / Mechatronics Engineering / Refrigeration & Air-conditioning )for Artisan, ITI/ITC/NAC for Technical Assistant and PUC (first class) for Assistant Traffic Inspector plus marks secured in the interview. Clear guidelines have been issued for conducting interview in fair and transparent manner. NWKRTC has taken steps to record the proceedings of the interview, for this purpose the interviewing of the candidates is being video graphed. The Parameters fixed to ascertain the ability of the candidates are as follows:

* Personality and ability to express  5 marks
* Knowledge relating to post applied 5 marks
* General Knowledge 5 marks

After the completion of the interview on each day, the Selection Authority exhibits the marks awarded in the interview to the eligible candidates.
